UNC Tar Heels Basketball Team 11 Minute Second Half Drought Too Much to Overcome

The Tar Heels basketball team has had a very difficult season. So many bad breaks. The ball hasn’t bounced their way. North Carolina was very competitive all game long but they went through an 11-minute scoring drought that cost them the game.

UNC was missing their best 3 point shooter Brandon Robinson tonight due to a sprained ankle. Shots were hard to come by and Florida St. made sure Cole Anthony wasn’t going to beat them. They missed 17 straight shots in the second half and shot 30% for the game.

UNC Bright Spots

Cole Anthony 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Christian Keeling had 14 points and 2 rebounds.

Rechon Leaky Black had 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Needs Work

Their basketball IQ needs to be better in close games. UNC needs to move without the ball and play better help-side defense. They need to attack the basket more aggressively and hit their free throws.

Final Observations

The Tar Heels are a better team than their record. They have too many lapses at critical times on the offensive and defensive end that dig them too big of a hole to get out of. Roy and the staff are going to have to help Cole Anthony build a better relationship with the bigs. Brooks and Bacot combined for 11 points and 10 rebounds. That is not going to cut it. The inside-out game has to be reintroduced to this team if they are going to have any sustained success in the ACC. Next up is Duke on Saturday.
