UNC Tar Heels Basketball Team Help Roy Tie Dean Smith at 879 Wins

The Tar Heels basketball team is back home for the holiday break with a four-game home stretch. Yale was a tough scrappy team that had come off winning four true road games. Including a win at Clemson last week.

UNC is getting quality bench production. Tonight Justin Pierce came off the bench and had 14 points and 7 rebounds. Brandon Robinson had a career-high 20 points hitting five 3- pointers. Jeremiah Francis and Anthony Harris have brought new energy and toughness to the team. Francis ran the show at the point finishing with 10 points and 5 assists.

UNC Bright Spots

Brandon Robinson had a career-high 20 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Justin Pierce 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 1 assist.

Jeremiah Francis had 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists.

Garrison Brooks had 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Needs Work

The Tar Heels need to do a better job keeping the flow of offense going consistently. They have slow starts to the second half for many games. They must be more aggressive attacking the basket.

Final Observations

Congratulations to Coach Roy Williams for winning his 879th game. Roy has tied his mentor. What great run for a coach that doesn’t get half the credit of coaches with fewer accomplishments.

Saturday against Georgia Tech starts the ACC gauntlet. UNC must continue to build upon each win until they get Cole Anthony back. Our prayers are with Anthony Harris who left the game with a knee injury. Prayerfully, it is not serious. He has been playing solid basketball for the Tar Heels.
