UNC Tar Heels Football Team Win on the Road

by Derrick Isaiah Clyburn

After a heartbreaking loss to Clemson last week, the North Carolina football team was looking to bounce back against Georgia Tech on Saturday afternoon. In the first half, the offense found a rhythm early in the game after one early interception. Howell would lead two touchdown drives in the second quarter.

The defense played extremely well in the first half, holding Georgia Tech scoreless, holding them under 100 total yards for the entire half and forcing one turnover. In the second half, Georgia Tech was able to make a few plays to bring the game within nine points, but the Heels were able to counter with three four-quarter touchdown drives to finish the game. The Tar Heels dominated most of the game on both sides of the field and were able to win the game convincingly 38-22.

The defense held Georgia Tech scoreless in the first half.

DJ Ford and Don Chapman both had 1 interception.

The Heels’ offense was 11-19 on third downs.

Needs Work

The Tar Heels receivers need to do a better job of catching the ball. There were too many drops in the game today and a couple of those dropped passes would have been touchdowns.

Final Observations

This was a good win for the North Carolina football team, and it should be a good confidence booster for the team going forward. The Heels have a lot of talent on both sides of the football and it showed today. As the team continues to find and embrace their identity each week, it will be great to see what this team’s potential can truly be as they get ready for the rest of the ACC play.
