UNC Tar Heels Basketball Team Not at Full Strength and Season Ends

By Derrick Clyburn

The Tar Heels basketball team was battling the flu bug and ran into a hot shooting Auburn ball club. North Carolina was a step slow and lacked the energy to overcome the 3-point barrage by the Tigers. Auburn shot 66% in the second half and never looked back.

Sad to see the seniors go out on such a sour note with the team not playing at full strength. Hats off to Auburn for bringing the intensity to UNC all game. The Tar Heels were led in scoring by Cam Johnson and Coby White with 15 points each.

UNC Game Stats

UNC Bright Spots

Cameron Johnson had 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals.

Coby White had 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists.

Luke Maye had 13 points and 7 rebounds.

Kenny Williams had 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Final Observations

The UNC basketball team had a great year. I know that they won’t make excuses about their health conditions leading up to the game tonight. But if you go down. You want to go down at full strength. We all hate the what if’s? But that is part of life. Things don’t always work out as planned.

It will be interesting to see what the make up of next years edition of the Tar Heels will look like in the next few weeks. Their are a lot of big decisions to be made on the recruiting front and Coby White and Nassir Little possibly going to the NBA. Stay Tuned!
