UNC Tar Heels Basketball Team Advance to the Sweet 16

by Derrick Clyburn

The Tar Heels basketball team took care of business keeping an 8 to 12 point stiff-arm on Washington for the entire game. They are playing as a team on a mission.

North Carolina has been extremely successful in March the last four seasons. They have been to 2 Final Fours, 1 Elite Eight, and 1 National Championship game winning the National Title in 2017. Nassir Little and Luke Maye led all scoring with 20 points each.

UNC Game Stats

UNC Bright Spots

Luke Maye had 20 points and 14 rebounds.

Nassir Little had 20 points and 7 rebounds.

Coby White had 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Cameron Johnson had 13 points, 3 rebounds, and 7 assists.

Needs Work

The Tar Heels need to play with a sense of urgency from the tip-off. They need to take care of the ball better. North Carolina turned it over 10 times in the first half.

Final Observations

UNC seems to be hitting their stride once they feel out their opponent. They hit another gear that creates a double-figure scoring margin which helps them seize control of the game. North Carolina enjoys sharing the ball and different players step up every game to give them a boost. Nassir Little has put together two strong performances which should bode well for his confidence in future games.

North Carolina Welcome to the Sweet 16!

  1. We gotta run more to get our easy looks!!! Run the basketball Tar Heels!!!!! And that is all predicated on our pressure defense from our guards.
