UNC Tar Heels Basketball Keeps Building

by Derrick Clyburn

The Tar Heels basketball team is continuing to find their new identity for this season. They shared a home game with Davidson in Charlotte, NC Friday night. Joel Berry found his shooting stroke tonight and led all scoring with 27 points and 4 assists.  Luke Maye had his 4th double-double with 24 points and 17 rebounds. UNC handled a scrappy Davidson team and was able to slow down the 3 point barrage after halftime.

UNC Bright Spots

Luke Maye had his 6th 20 point game of the season with 24 points and  a career-high 17 rebounds.

Joel Berry led all scoring with 27 points and 4 assists.

Kenny Williams has been playing well on both ends of the floor with 12 points and 6 rebounds.

Brandon Robinson came off the bench and gave valuable minutes with 8 points and 2 rebounds.

Needs Work

The Tar Heels freshmen bigs need to keep focusing on attention to detail on defense and rebounding.

Final Observations

Carolina has plenty of room for improvement on both ends of the floor. As Roy continues to develop the freshmen bigs to impact the game. The Tar Heels will become a more balanced team. The players continue to play unselfish ball and Pinson is learning what shots he needs to take. I like how the players are hustling on the defensive end.
