UNC Tar Heels Basketball Team Staves Off a Desperate Clemson Team

by Derrick Clyburn

The Tar Heels basketball team was facing a desperate Clemson team that needed a win against a top-25 team to have a better chance of making the NCAA Tournament. Clemson was a scrappy opponent. They played strong defense holding North Carolina to 41% shooting from the field.

Coach Roy Williams had a bout with Vertigo late in the first half which caused him to leave the side lines for the rest of the game. So, the Tar Heels had to battle the Tigers without their head coach.

Coby White and Cam Johnson carried North Carolina offensively for most of the game. White led all scoring with 28 points and 6 rebounds.

UNC Game Stats

UNC Bright Spots

Coby White had 28 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1 steal.

Cameron Johnson had 19 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assist.

Luke Maye had 13 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Needs Work

The Tar Heels need to defend the 3-point shot better.

Final Observations

UNC squeaked out a victory to win their 8th road game in the ACC. Coby White is seeing a big basket the last few games and is scoring at a high clip. These Tar Heels are finding ways to win games, some pretty and some ugly. You need all of the above to advance in the NCAA tournament.
