UNC Tar Heels Basketball Team Roll Against Duke

by Derrick Clyburn

The Tar Heels basketball team came into this game focused and on a mission. All week long all you heard was that Duke was the best team in the country and Zion Williamson will be the next Lebron. Matter of fact, Duke was a 10 point favorite and North Carolina had no hope of staying on the court.

This is a rivalry game. All records and stats are thrown out the window. A lot times the best team doesn’t win. UNC was business-like and cruised to a 16 point win. Luke Maye led North Carolina in scoring with 30 points and 15 rebounds.

UNC Game Stats

UNC Bright Spots

Luke Maye had 30 points, 15 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals.

Cameron Johnson had 26 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals.

Garrison Brooks had 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals.

Needs Work

The Tar Heels need to cut down on their turnovers and be strong with the ball.

Final Observations

I hate to see Zion go down with an injury in this game. I would have loved to see how the Tar Heels would have played with a full Duke roster. But you win and move on.

I think that the senior leadership led the way in taking control of this game. Luke Maye played like a man on a mission and force the action. The Tar Heels got 62 points in the paint, shot 10% from the 3 point line, and still won by 16. UNC still has room for improvement. They need to take better care of the ball.
