UNC Tar Heels Basketball Team Building Momentum for March

by Derrick Clyburn

The Tar Heels basketball team is starting to click on all cylinders. Many thought that North Carolina would have a letdown after manhandling Duke without their star Zion Williamson on Wednesday night.

UNC was aggressive on both ends of the floor, attacking the 7-footers that Florida St. bring to the court. Nassir Little had several explosive plays including a poster dunk on one of the Seminoles big men.

North Carolina continues to move the ball to the open man playing unselfishly and they have several players that can have a big night scoring. Today, Nassir Little and Cam Johnson led the Tar Heels with 18 points each.

UNC Game Stats

Nassir Little had 18 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal.

Cameron Johnson had 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 1 assist.

Luke Maye had 15 points, 11 rebounds, and 1 assist.

Coby White had 10 points, 1 rebound, and 4 assists.

Needs Work

The Tar Heels need to cut down on their turnovers.

Final Observations

UNC has won 10 out their last 11 games and has beat Duke #1 and Florida St. #16 in the same week. Their defense has stepped up to a championship level. The on the ball and help defense has gotten better. Roy Williams teams always get better as the season progresses.

This team is starting to look dangerous for the March run. Nassir Little was big today for North Carolina showing his alpha dog prowess. The bench has given solid contributions the last few games. Cam Johnson is the consummate senior leader.

  1. Awesome win. That’s a team you have to be physical with because of their athletic players. We did just that. It was one of those games where it would have helped to have another quality big man
