UNC Tar Heels Basketball Team Cruise Past Ga. Tech

by Derrick Clyburn

The Tar Heels basketball team had a 8 day break and came out a little sluggish. Then they turned up the defensive intensity which led to 10 steals for 14 fast break points. Cam Johnson and Coby White got hot from the three point line going 4-6 and 5-9 respectively from the field.

North Carolina’s hot shooting open the game up to as much as a 30 point lead. UNC moved the ball to the open man and played unselfish basketball.

UNC Game Stats

UNC Bright Spots

Cam Johnson had 22 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.

Coby White had 19 points 3 rebounds, 8 assists and 1 steal.

Nassir Little had 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 1 assist.

Needs Work

The Tar Heels need to be more consistent with their energy and urgency on offense and defense from the start. They tend to have lapses throughout the game. UNC also needs to continue working on cutting down on their turnovers and be more agresssive attacking the rim.

Final Observations

UNC is 6-1 in the ACC and have 4 road wins. They have their revenge match against Louisville on Saturday at 2 pm. North Carolina must play with urgency for the entire game. The Cardinals are long and athletic so the Tar Heels must be aggressive on offense and play strong interior defense. This will be a different team heading to Louisville. I anticipate a more focused and determined effort.

Yes, good accessment. We know that our professional sports are governed by a script because it’s defined as “ entertainment .” Is this the case for the collegiate arena also?
