North Carolina Achievements

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has such a proud sports tradition. The Men’s Basketball Team just won its 6th NCAA Title in April 2017; [1957, 1982, 1993, 2005, 2009, 2017]. The Helms National Title in 1924, makes it our 7th National Title overall. This was the standard bearer before the NCAA was formed.

Also, North Carolina Tar Heel Men and Women Sports boasts 5 Men’s Lacrosse NCAA Titles; [1981, 1982, 1986, 1991, 2016].  2 Men’s Soccer NCAA Titles; [2001, 2011]. 1 Women’s Basketball NCAA Title; [1994]. 6 Women’s Field Hockey NCAA Titles; [1985, 1995, 1996, 1997, 2007, 2009]. 2 Women’s Lacrosse NCAA Titles; [2013, 2016]. 21 Women’s Soccer NCAA Titles; [1982, 1983, 1984, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2003, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2012].

And, The North Carolina Tar Heel Men and Women sports teams lead the ACC with the most school NCAA Team Championships. Currently at 43 and counting. Second in the ACC is Virginia with 25 NCAA Team Championships.

Most noteworthy, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Men and Women sports teams are tied for 8th place overall in NCAA Division I Team Championships with Louisiana State University at 43.
